Discern What Is Best!

The Bible teaches us to be discerning – to love and talk about and do what is best, what is central, what is most important, what is truly profitable for our spiritual walk. The following Scripture passages teach us that some things are essential (very, very important!); that other things are secondary (have some importance); and that still other things are peripheral distractions (not important, not helpful, and often harmful). What Scripture teaches is essential, and it is the standard by which we assess everything else. Ponder these passages and make it your aim to always discern what is best!

Matthew 23:23-24

Luke 10:38-42

Romans 14:1

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

Philippians 1:9-10

Philippians 4:8

1 Thessalonians 5:20-21

1 Timothy 1:3-5

1 Timothy 4:7-8

1 Timothy 6:3-5

1 Timothy 6:20-21

2 Timothy 1:13-14

2 Timothy 2:14-15

Titus 3:8-10

Hebrews 5:14

Remember this great piece of wisdom:

IN ESSENTIALS, LET THERE BE UNITY;

IN NON-ESSENTIALS, ALLOW FOR DIVERSITY;

IN ALL THINGS, HAVE CHARITY (=WALK IN LOVE).
