Worthwhile Events: May 3, 2018
Like Arrows and The National Day of Prayer
There are two worthwhile events taking place this Thursday evening, and I want to commend them to you. If you have flexibility in your schedule, consider putting one of these events on your schedule.
1) There is a wonderful new movie called Like Arrows that is playing in certain theaters around the country – but it is only playing on May 1 (yesterday) and May 3 at 7:00pm. This movie presents a realistic, sobering, instructive, and hopeful view of parenting, from a biblical perspective. Future parents, parents of young children or youth, parents of adult children, and grandparents would all do well to see this movie. Charlotta and I were deeply moved by the film – and I would be happy for you to have a similar experience. For those living in southwestern Maine, the film is playing in Brunswick, Saco, and Westbrook. Go here for tickets.
2) May 3 is also The National Day of Prayer. There are many events taking place throughout the country, and you may already be planning to participate in one of these events. In our region, the Oxford Hills Area Gathering is taking place at 7:00pm at Hosanna Church, 109 School House Road in Oxford. This is an opportunity to join with your fellow Christians in praying together for our nation.
So, if you are able, I encourage you to participate in one of these events. If you're interested in both, I cannot tell you which one to prefer. Like Arrows is essentially a word of encouragement and exhortation that promotes godly parenting. The National Day of Prayer event is a time for much-needed prayer. Either way, you can't really go wrong.
