Joel grew up in Falmouth, Massachusetts (Cape Cod). At a very early age his mother received Christ as her Savior. He grew up in a home where Christ was front and center. His mother passed on her love of Christ to her children. At age 13 Joel was baptized, but slowly he began to walk away from the God who loved and saved him. Until age 29, Joel followed worldly pleasures and fleshly passions until one day He came face to face with his Savior again. Broken and repentant Joel repented of his rebellion and God transformed his heart and mind. God provided Joel with godly men to mentor him. As his understanding of the Lord grew so did his desire to teach and show others about the love and grace of Jesus. He began teaching Awana classes and volunteering for Vacation Bible School, and that grew into teaching Junior High Sunday School. It was during this time that God gave him his long-time love and future bride, India. A year after they married they moved to Maine. In 2008 Joel’s mother had retired to the area and the plan was for the new family to follow. They settled into the area and SPBC became their home church. Joel and India loved SPBC’s dedication to the accurate preaching of the Word. Soon Joel was teaching and overseeing the Youth Group. This allowed him to immerse himself in two passions: one teaching the Word and the other mentoring young people in their walk with Lord. Joel has been an Elder at SPBC since 2016 and continues to work with the youth in the Oxford Hills community.
